Honda Recalls More Than 2 Million Vehicles

Honda Motor Company has issued a recall for 2.49 million cars, small SUVs and minivans worldwide, including its popular Accord.  The automaker recalled the vehicles to repair a software problem.  The software requires an update to avoid damage to the automatic transmission in the recalled vehicles if the driver quickly shifts between gears.  Switching the gears could cause the engine to stall or make it difficult to put the car into park which could result in an accident leading to serious injury or death.

The recall includes 1.5 million vehicles in the United States and 135,142 in Canada.  Four-cylinder Accord sedans for the model years 2005 to 2010 are also included in the recall.  In addition, the CR-V crossovers for the model years 2007 to 2010, as well as the small Element SUV from model years 2005 to 2008 in the United States and Canada were also recalled.

The problems are most likely to occur when a driver stuck in mud or snow is changing between gears as they try to dislodge their vehicle by shifting between the reverse, neutral and drive positions.

The personal injury and accident attorneys at Messa & Associates have successfully represented many victims of defective motor vehicles and motor vehicle component parts.  If you or a loved one has been seriously injured by one of the recalled Honda vehicles, please contact us at 1-877-MessaLaw.
